The best Playstation 2 games of all time

The 5 best PlayStation 2 games ever:

5. Kingdom Hearts – Possibly the most nostalgic game I have ever played. Do you remember all those amazing Disney movies you watched as a kid? Well now you can play in them and fight evil while doing it. Some of the levels that made me jump for joy were the Peter Pan level, Alice in Wonderland, and Tarzan.

4. Final Fantasy 10 – One of the deepest and most emotional RPGs I have ever played. You take the lead as Tidus, the champion Blitzball player, who is suddenly taken by a tidal wave one day and wakes up in the future. FFX is built on the same principles that have made the series so successful, namely the battle system and the ability to summon large monsters to aid you in your cause. The story is one of the best so far, and you really feel friendship between the characters.

3. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater – While MGS2 was an amazing game and did a lot for the genre (not to mention the fabulous graphics), you can’t help but feel like the levels were designed quite crudely and, well, a bit silly. Snake Eater does the opposite with this, and leaves you in the middle of a dense jungle. The suspense you will feel is stressful, as this time there is no radar either!

2. Grant Tourism 4 This puts it on the list of the best PlayStation 2 games for a number of reasons: the stunning graphics, the massive selection of top-tier race cars, the realistic driving gameplay, and the overall presentation and montage of the game. There is a real sense of reward when you start from the bottom, with little money to spend on your first car, to get to the top, racing million dollar cars against each other.

1. Grant Theft Auto: San Andreas – The fact that this game still has a large online community to this day says a lot about the game and the amount of detail that goes into it. Entire communities have been established simply around the ‘base jump’, where you fly to the top of a tall building, jump, and then (hopefully) open your parachute before landing. The size and details of the ‘sandbox’ in which you play make this one of the best games on PlayStation 2. You can spend half an hour driving from one extreme to another, while listening to the radio on your motorcycle, and you feel amazing doing it . The missions are varied and exciting, and the weapon selection isn’t bad either!
