Sousse, in Tunisia, is a small quiet city with a lively street life. Located 40 miles south of Hammamet on the coast, it offers a beach, promenade, restaurants, cafes, and shops along with hotels and some self-catering accommodation. The Medina is one of the best shopping centers in the old city of Tunis. Located below the city fort, the covered alleys of the medina offer an eye-opening shopping experience. Selling everything from rugs and leather goods to antiques, sellers will never expect you to accept their first price but instead haggle for a price that works for both of you. Don’t be shy when haggling as expected and it adds to the experience of visiting Tunisia. Another great experience not to be missed is a visit to a traditional Tunisian bathhouse (Hammam). Here you can completely relax in the steam rooms and even get a massage and haircut.

Exploring Tunisia is easy when using Sousse as a base. You can take the train from the city to the Tunisian coast or south to Mahdia and Monastir and even to the desert city of Gabes which has an amazing oasis.

The resort offers a variety of land and water sports. You can enjoy a round of golf at the 36-hole championship course in Port El Kantaoui, take a trip out to sea to spot dolphins, or visit the Acqua Palace in Port El Kantaoui for a day splashing around in the hot tubs, slides and waterfalls.

April, May and June are considered the best times to visit Sousse. You can find good offers for dates throughout the year, although if you want to take a dip in the sea, Easter is not the best time since the water is usually too cold to bathe. Sousse is busiest in July and August, when daytime temperatures hover around 30°C, rarely dipping below 20°C at night. However, the sea breeze helps to cool down the high humidity levels.
