Top 5 Goa Beaches

Goa is known for its beaches and there are so many that it can sometimes be a difficult choice to choose which one to visit. Some beaches are perfect for simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views, while others are suitable for adventurous water sports. Most of these beaches offer everything anyone would want from a wonderful and fun-filled vacation.

Bagá Beach: Located in the west of Mapusa, Baga is one of the most popular beaches in Goa. It is particularly famous for its water sports and lively nightlife. A short distance from Baga beach, you can also find medicinal springs that are known for their healing properties. These medicinal springs can be reached by taking a narrow path that leads to Mottant and then passing the Bom Viagem Convent. Dabolim airport is situated at a distance of approximately 50 km from Baga beach.

Calungute Beach: Calungute got its name from the local village called Kolongutt. However, with the Portuguese invasion, the word was distorted and it was renamed Calungute. The name Cal is derived from the Hindu goddess Kali, who is widely worshiped by local fishermen. Calungute Beach is the largest in North Goa and is particularly known for its beach huts and stalls. Dabolim airport is located at a distance of 40 km from Calangute beach.

Colva Beach: Colva is one of the longest beaches in the world with an extension of 24 km. The beach is packed during the weekends and is very popular with the locals. In Colva, one can enjoy adventurous water sports like parasailing, jet skiing and speed boating at reasonable prices. Colva Beach is 40 km from Panaji and 8 km from Maragao. The nearest train station is in Maragao.

Anjuna Beach: Anjuna Beach enjoys a reputation for hosting some of the wildest parties in the world. Anjuna is famous for its full moon parties and Wednesday flea market. This flea market is extremely popular and one can choose from a variety of different types of goods. The main attraction of Anjuna is the magnificent historic Albuquerque mansion built in 1920. It is located at a distance of 47 km from the Dabolim airport.

Arambol Beach: Arambol is becoming a favorite beach for most international tourists and is particularly crowded during the winter season between November and March. It is located at a distance of one hour by car from Dabolim airport. Arambol is considered one of the most beautiful beaches and to the north of the main beach you can also find a smaller beach with a freshwater lake. For a truly secluded retreat, this is one of the best beaches in Goa that one can visit.
