The First Phase of the Yamuna Expressway Scheme in Marbella

Yamuna Expressway Scheme in Marbella

The first phase of the Yamuna Expressway scheme has just been launched in August 2021. It follows the construction of a six-mile segment of elevated cycle track from South Alisaloum to Alaverdi, from where it can be accessed by car. The aim of the project is to provide an easier way for visitors to Alaverdi and Marbella to reach their resort by bike. This section of the scheme, the first phase, includes the facility of a pedestrian tunnel under the motorway, through which you can reach Marbella and Alisaloum. The second phase of the project will add another six miles of cycle tracks, with the extension of the southbound segment of the expressway.

The aim of the project is to improve traffic flow and accommodate a greater volume of traffic on the roads during peak hours. This will reduce the jams that occur during normal traffic hours due to heavier vehicle traffic. According to the planners, the first phase of the project should be made free of any vehicle congestion to minimize traffic delays. During the project, two dedicated bus lanes will be built to increase the flow of traffic. These bus lanes will enable wheelchair and disabled users to access the project area.

According to the planners, the first phase of the project will start after the completion of the third one, the extension of the Baga Causeway, at the southern part of Marbella. Car drivers using the toll road to exit the area will be directed to use the tolls to enter the town. Once the first phase starts, car users will be charged with a daily toll. The project aims at improving the traffic congestion in the town. However, it is expected that the traffic jam will not be as bad as predicted, and the traffic in Marbella and Alaverdi will be slightly increased during the first phase.

The project will also include the extension of the second phase to the south of Marbella. This extension will be done in the future as part of the third phase, which is also being constructed. According to the planners, the first phase of the project will be fully operational by the end of this year. This means that by the time the first phase ends, the whole of Marbella will have been positively blessed with a clean and safe road for all vehicles to travel.

The planning of the project has been kept within the limits of the environmental and social objectives of the government. As a matter of fact, the environmental agency is also a key player in this venture, along with the local government. The first phase of the project is expected to last for two and a half years, after which the extension of the Baga Causeway will be done. Meanwhile, the other extensions of the project will be done in due time, all geared towards providing convenience and comfort to the general public. As a matter of fact, the first phase of the Yamuna Expressway scheme will be particularly beneficial to the people living and working in the sea communities along the coast.

One of the biggest advantages of the project is that it will lead to the creation of a completely new traffic pattern for the south of Spain. For example, during the first phase, the new car hire company from Milan will be working exclusively in the area. Once this is done, the traffic which currently comes into the city via the old roads will be diverted over the expressway scheme. As a result, the amount of traffic that enters the city through the old routes will significantly reduce.
