Description of the breed

The Pug belongs to the group of mastiffs and toy dogs that is the only breed in this group that likes children. Often described as a bunch of dogs in a small space, they weigh around 13-20 pounds and stand 12-14 inches tall at the shoulder.

Coat

The Pug is a fine-coated breed with short, shiny cloth. Soft to the touch, this breed’s coat is slightly broken and it has a curly tail. They come in apricot, silver, fawn or black, with a black mask.

Activity

Although generally not active, the Pug is content to live anywhere with his master. But owners should keep in mind that while this breed doesn’t get a lot of exercise, it’s important to encourage them to be active. This breed can easily gain weight. So, make sure the Pug goes for a walk at least once a day, in 10 minutes or so. Make sure this breed is not over exerted as they can easily lose their breath and start panting.

Temperament

The expression of the Pug puts the funny character in the character of this breed. These are sociable dogs and will tend to be stubborn about many things. They are generally charming, playful, and intelligent. With a reputation for being successful in dog obedience skills, these dogs are highly sensitive to human tone of voice. Although this breed generally gets along well with other pets and dogs, they would prefer the company of humans and require a lot of human interaction. Either they will become agitated or distressed if they are ignored.

General description

The Pug makes a wonderful pet, especially for a first-time dog owner. However, they must be determined to give this sensitive breed the special care it needs. As long as they are given ideal love and care, they will remain a healthy companion for life.

Watch out

Pugs are generally easy to care for when it comes to grooming. This breed will require brushing and grooming once or twice a week. The folds on their faces should be cleaned regularly. Since this breed is a large seasonal coat shed, special care should be given to them during these days to keep their fur away from furniture. In addition to grooming, there are many health concerns for this breed. They are very sensitive to extreme temperatures and can easily catch colds. They are also prone to many allergies due to their short muzzle.

Training

The intelligent but stubborn Pug can be trained with little patience and persistence. This breed will do anything for food, and training with treats, toys, and lots of praise is the best for it. Training should start right away, with short sessions each time, as they tend to get frustrated and bored easily.

Character

The Pug is a unique breed that is clown and extremely funny. Although comical, they are capable of behaving with dignity. These dogs are very eager to please, learn, and love. The only requirement this breed needs is love.
