The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded in 1933 by Art Rooney. It is a professional soccer team. It is included in the Central Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). Under the league’s realignment plan that went into effect in 2002, the Steelers play in the AFC North Division.

It is named after the Pittsburgh National League baseball team. In 1938, star running back Byron White, nicknamed the Whizzer for his speed, was signed by Rooney. But despite the new addition, the team only managed two wins. Originally called the Pirates, the team changed names due to their losses in 1940. They only managed a record three wins during 1942-1949.
His uniform is black and gold. The team got its name from the Pittsburgh Factories which is located in Pittsburgh and where the team played its first games and moved to a new stadium in 2001. They were the first team to record four straight Super Bowl victories in the 1970s. The team was headed by coach Chuck Noll and included several star players.

His defense was nicknamed the Iron Curtain due to his powerful defense abilities. Some of the star players of that era included Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, Donnie Shell, and Joe Greene and White. They were members of the defense that was rated the best for three consecutive seasons during 1974-1976. They won the playoffs in the 1974 and 1975 season and the Super Bowls in the following seasons. Three years later, in an electrifying game against the Cowboys, they won the Super Bowl 35-31. The Steelers had a strong lead after Bradshaw’s four touchdown passes in the final minutes of the game.

The Dallas quarterback had a few touchdowns before Pittsburgh rallied to a win. They got their fourth title in 1980 after defeating the Los Angeles Rams with a score of 31-19. It was one final Super Bowl appearance for the team led by Noll, who led them to two more division titles in the ensuing 12 seasons. He retired in 1991 with a career-high 209 wins, which ranked fourth in NFL history.

After the sad passing in 1988 of Art Rooney, who had owned the club for over 50 years, his son Daniel Rooney became the interim president of the franchise. At the time, Bill Cowher, who was a former NFL linebacker, was named Pittsburgh’s head coach in 1992. He built them into a solid team in the early 1990s and led them to three straight division victories between 1994 and 1996. The Steelers played in the post-1995 Super Bowl against the Cowboys but lost 27-17. They were victorious in the 1996 AFC Central season playoffs against their opponents, the Indianapolis Colts, 42-14, but lost to the New England Patriots 28-3 in the next game.
