Use fear and grow!

Fear is an emotion that we all experience from time to time; However, did you know that you can turn fear into courage? Yes, you can, and all it takes is time, effort, and the desire to overcome fear.

There are several steps to turning fear into courage and they are: accept it, identify it, feel fear, face it, and then practice fear. First, to turn fear into anger, you must accept feeling fear. Everyone on this earth experiences fear. The way you handle threatening feelings is basically what you will accomplish in life. This is how you deal with fear; that is the main ingredient of how you will live your life.

Second, identify the threatening feelings. To turn these negative feelings into anger, you must be honest with yourself when you are afraid. Look at the areas in your life where you are afraid and then look at them as opportunities on how to deal with fear.

Third, to deal with this negative feeling in an honest way, you have to feel the feeling. Don’t try to analyze the fear or try to figure out what caused the feeling. Instead of trying to analyze why you are afraid, feel it. Once you feel the excitement, you are ready to move on to the next step.

Fourth, you need to face the feeling. When you are faced with the feeling of being afraid, you overcome those horrible feelings that are associated with this emotion: an increase in your heartbeat or a feeling of shaking or trembling in your body. When you face your fears, you can move on with your life and become braver and happier.

Of course, there are times when fear should not be ignored, especially if it is life threatening. If that’s the case, do what you can to protect your life, and then get the help you need. But if you are not in immediate danger, face your fear. When you are faced with something that is holding you back, like an unpleasant neighbor or a person at work pushing all of your negative emotions, look those people in the eye, say what you have to say, and move on. Your courage will grow and your life will be happier and more enjoyable.

The fifth step is to practice it. Think of facing and confronting fear as a skill, something you practice and improve on. It is a lot like playing tennis or learning to write an essay. The more you practice it, the better you will feel and soon you will feel less fearful and more courageous.
