Two magic words for writing radio commercials that sell

Go ahead and steal this idea.

It has been proven to sell time and time again. Use it and your radio commercials will sell too.

The idea is summed up in two magic words: “That’s why”.

“That’s why” is so deceptively powerful that it has been the secret redactor’s trick since time immemorial.

Wizards have the tip of the thumb. The editors have “that’s why”.

Let me spill the beans on how to use this copy magic…

THE PERFECT COPY FORMULA

Start your radio commercial with a short statement that makes the listener agree with you. For example, if you are selling savings accounts, you might say this:

“Millions of people earn a meager half a percent interest on their savings account. Is that fair? We don’t think so!”

Your next statement will be your “that’s why” statement. This should be an immediate knockout that capitalizes on the attention you just gained with your opening.

Let it be the strongest blow you have. Like this:

Then, as shampoo bottles always advise: Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Repeat your opening in a different way. Turn it into a profit-oriented statement, like this:

Then, hit them with the hammer “for that”:

Oh yeah, we guarantee it. If another bank offers a higher rate, we’ll beat it on the spot. Now keep accumulating. If you really have something of value to offer your prospect, this formula won’t go out of style. So do it again…

“Don’t you think it’s time your savings account started earning you real money? Yeah, we agree with you!”

And one more bomb of “that’s why”:

“That’s why when you call 1-8XX-GET-FREE to switch to State National Bank Super Customer Appreciation Savings, you’ll also get our Super FREE Checking which includes FREE checking for life, FREE online banking , FREE Check Card, FREE Email Balance Alerts, and so much more!”

Note that the copy includes the call to action in the “that’s why” statement. Don’t wait until the end of the radio commercial. Motivate him as often as you can.

Close your radio commercial with force, like this:

“Most banks want to take advantage of you. We want you to benefit from us! That’s why you should call 1-8XX-GET-FREE right now to open your State National Bank Customer Appreciation Super Savings account and get everything you need for FREE.” I have to come to you.
