The San Francisco 49ers are new and improved

With the hiring of head coach Mike Singletary, a new attitude has come to the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers had a disappointing season in 2008 but improved towards the end of the season. While Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana are long gone from the 49ers, the players the 49ers have are RB Frank Gore, TE Vernon Davis, LB Patrick Willis and QB Shaun Hill. They may not be the most talented group of players to ever play for the 49ers, rest assured that Coach Singletary will maximize his players and ensure they play up to their potential.

The 49ers are in the same division as the Arizona Cardinals, the reigning NFC West champions. The Cardinals have not played as representatives of the NFC Super Bowl thus far. The 49ers have a good chance to win the NFC West because they are very well trained and overall the NFC West is pretty weak. Whether it’s a weak division or not, the 49ers should be in contention for the division crown that will take them to the playoffs.

Quarterback Shaun Hill won’t dazzle you with amazing stats, but he won’t make a lot of mistakes either. Hill is completing over 60% of his shots and has a good QB rating. RB Frank Gore is one of the best running backs in the NFL. Gores’ best season was in 06′ when Gore started every game, rushed for over 1,600 yards and scored 8 touchdowns.

LB Patrick Willis has become a Pro Bowl player and will cause many problems for offenses over the course of the year.

The 49ers may not have to worry about teams in their own division, they will have to worry about the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and other potential NFC contenders. .
