PC VS MAC – Which is better?

You’ve probably seen those commercials where the young, hip, loose-haired guy proudly proclaims it’s a Mac and the older, balding, overweight guy says it’s a PC. The commercials invariably end with the Mac guy winning, but the fact remains that PCs are a much better investment than Macs.

The first thing you’ll notice when looking at the price of a Mac computer is that they are typically more expensive than PCs. Think about it: only one company, Apple, makes Macs, right? So they can charge whatever they want, because their customer base doesn’t have a second choice. And how many companies make PCs? Exactly. Apple’s cheapest laptop, a MacBook, costs just under $1,000. And that’s just for the baby of the family! Imagine how much the most expensive one costs. Best Buy sells a lot of laptops for under $600. Sure, they’re not the best out there, but when there’s that much difference in price between a PC and a MacBook, you know something’s up.

Plus, one of the great things about PCs is that you can custom make them to get exactly what you need in a laptop or computer without buying anything you don’t really need. Macs only come in three flavors: Mac mini, Mac Pro, or iMac. That is all. Also, as I noted above, you can swap out motherboards or CPUs and not have to replace anything else, but try that with a Mac, especially when even trying to customize one can void your warranty.

PCs are better if you plan to use your computer for gaming. It’s as simple as that: PCs are simply better. Also, most video games don’t get Mac versions until months after they’re released, and that should tell you something, because even X-Box and PlayStation games run on the same day. PC users also have the option to easily swap out graphics cards if they need an upgrade, a process that’s much more difficult on a Mac. Plus, for some unfathomable reason, Macs use hardware that’s always at least seven months out of date. . PCs have been able to use draft 802.11n wireless for nearly two years, but Apple just bought it.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that every year in January, Apple announces its new line of laptops. You can sit at home with the “old” one that probably isn’t out of warranty yet. Apple support also frankly sucks. You get a 90-day warranty that includes phone support and a one-year hardware warranty. Of course, you can purchase a 3-year warranty for an extra few hundred dollars. And for a Dell? A 3-year warranty comes as standard.

Sure, PCs can’t compete with Macs when it comes to actual design, but if you’re more concerned with design than function, you’re worth spending those extra few thousand dollars to keep your Mac looking pretty while you’re trying to find stuff. that will actually operate on it.
