Job Application Forms – Some Tips on How to Fill Them Out!

So you’ve seen the specific job you want. The next step would be to fill out an application form which usually makes many of us go blank on seeing it. Don’t worry if this happens often. These tips below will definitely help you a lot!

Social Security number

If you have one, write it in this blank space. If not, you have to figure out how to get one.

current address and permanent address

These two addresses would be the same if you intend to live at home while you work. However, if you live at a private high school or college right now when you are working, list your school address as your current address and your home address as your permanent address.

Desired Salary

Enter “minimum wage” unless you know your experience and skills justify a higher payment. In other words, write down the amount you feel you deserve.

May we contact your employer?

Write “No” if you are currently employed and do not want your boss to know that you are looking for work elsewhere. If it’s OK, put “yes”.

Main topics

You do not need to put anything under this heading for elementary school. Just mention a few classes you’ve taken in high school and college that are relevant to the job you’re currently applying for.

Califications average

You do not have to list your GPA for elementary school. Instead, aim it for high school and college, even if it’s not a 4.0.

Objects of special study or research work

This is a great section as you can write down any of your extracurricular activities that support your work goals.

special training

This is definitely a good opportunity for you to talk about any non-school classes you’ve taken before. Be sure to write only those that will qualify you for the job.

Activities

This is another opportunity to show your employer that you are ready for this job. Write down any volunteering, sports and other activities you do that are relevant to this job.

Train Employers

This is pretty easy and straightforward. If you have never had a paid job before, leave this section blank. If not, fill in this space even if you are employed for odd jobs.

salary

Indicate how much you are paid per hour for your previous jobs.

Reason of exit

If you left your job on good terms, say “End of summer vacation,” “End of assignment,” or “I wanted to broaden my experience with another job.” However, if you were fired from your previous job, frame it in a positive light and explain what happened. Some good words would be: “It’s not a good fit,” “I agreed to move on,” and “He left by mutual consent.” Never use words like “I hated my boss” or “I got fired.”

References

This is a very important part of the application. Therefore, remember to write something here!

The above are some of the parts found in an application form. Follow them well and avoid things you shouldn’t be putting on it. Good luck!
