How to end procrastination

You can end procrastination by making a plan to do so. By considering the following steps before starting any project, you can stop procrastination before it even sets in.

Change your perception

Often times when you think about the final project, it can feel overwhelming. It is important to change your perception of a project and not see it as a final product. Also, you don’t want to let your false opinion about a single thing cloud your judgment. You have to let all of that go and try to find some excitement from doing the work.

Let go of fear

Realize that most procrastination is rooted in fear. Fear of failure, fear of success, and fear of not being good enough. Many people are so tied to perfection that they can’t finish anything and never do, so fear is self-perpetuating and endless. If you can put judgment and fear aside while working on assignments, you can end procrastination.

Fragment the project

No project is just the deliverable. All projects have steps that must be done some in order, others together, but no project is just the end. At school, when you started reporting, your English teacher assigned you different aspects of the project with due dates. Divide the work you need to do in the same way.

Just start

Our minds change focus when we start. It’s like that exercise that you don’t want to do; in the middle, you’re perfectly fine with it. And of course, when you’re done, you’ll be glad you did. The same goes for any work you don’t want to do. Get started and somewhere in between you will feel different.

Work on breaks

If you have a long day of tasks that you don’t like to do and can’t outsource them, take breaks. In fact, even if you like doing homework, you need breaks to be healthy. Eat right, exercise, and drink lots of water no matter what you’re doing. It will help you keep your mind clear and your body healthy.

Ask for responsibility

If you have more problems, be sure to find a responsible partner. You can pay for that at a life coach or business coach, or you can ask a trusted friend or family member to help you break your pattern of procrastination.

Reward yourself

Everyone likes to be rewarded for a job well done. Work to reward yourself for being healthy. If you finish a big project on time, get a massage or go to a good movie with your partner.
