Developing a list of good annuity prospects can seem like a daunting task for annuity marketers. Actually, it is not difficult if you do the right things. Marketing is the most important thing in life for annuity salespeople. In the annuity business, there are salespeople and marketers. Learn how to market and the sales side will fall all together. Here are the 4 tools I use to generate leads that easily convert to sales.

1. Seminars: it is easy, inexpensive and effective to generate prospects. Conduct 2 seminars per month. Only hold your seminars at libraries or other similar venues. This will help draw attention to your presentation. I have found that libraries are much more effective than restaurants simply because food can distract people from what you are saying. Never serve food!

2. Radio – Use radio to market to your target market. There are radio shows that work specifically with financial planning. Advertising on stations like this will allow many people to hear what you have to offer and will be aimed directly at people who are concerned about their financial situation.

3. Internet – Buy leads online. Look for the most credible lead provider. One thing to look for is a no-return policy, this is the provider you should go with. The reason for this is that if there are no returns, the lead is only sold once. Many vendors sell leads as often as you like. Would you like to buy a potential customer that someone has already bought, worked and threw away?

4. References: Ask for references early in the relationship with the current customer. Almost immediately, when you meet them, tell them that your goal is to do the best job possible for them, and if they are satisfied with the work you do, ask if they have any friends or family who will benefit from the annuity. you can provide.
