HP 17z Laptop Review: 17.3-inch Laptop with 8GB Memory and AMD Dual-Core Processor

Does it seem too good to be true that a 17.3-inch dual-core AMD laptop with over 8GB of memory is available at a VERY low price? It really isn’t; the HP 17z comes with all these features. First released in 2015, it has received many praise and rewards for its quality and performance. Consumers can also select the touch screen option (Pavilion).

While a 17-inch laptop isn’t the lightest, it can still be carried around if you’re going on vacation or a business trip. The standard, non-Pavilion version weighs 5.62 pounds and measures 15.34 inches wide, 0.97 inches tall, and 10.94 inches deep.

Wireless communication between it and the router is handled by 802.11 bgn (1×1); add compatibility and Bluetooth 4.2 too if you need. According to the HP 17z tests, the signal quality is good up to ten meters away from the router and through 3 or 4 walls.

The particular model is available in different colors: smoke gray, silk gold, jet black and natural silver. An integrated numeric keypad is integrated with the full-size island-style keyboard. Since the keys are spaced an ideal amount apart, typing is easy and accurate. The stroke is decently absorbed to allow for smooth writing. Overall, this is a very well designed laptop inside and out. It features a chrome hinge and unique textures.

The initial setup for the HP 17z Notebook includes the following:

• AMD dual-core processor (A9 9420 APU) 3 GHz – 3.6 GHz burst frequency

• AMD Radeon R5 or 530 graphics

• 17.3-inch diagonal HD+ SVA WLED-backlit BrightView display with 1600×900 resolution

• 1 x 8 GB DDR4 1866 SDRAM memory

• Hard drive: 1TB SATA 5400-RPM

• DVD recorder optical drive

HP 17z Upgrade Options

Memory is expandable – add a second module (either 4GB or 8GB) and go up to 12GB or 16GB. If you want something faster than a 5400 RPM SATA, there’s an M.2 SSD slot, which allows you to install a solid-state drive (up to 256GB).

While viewing graphics, images, and gaming videos on a large BrightView display, you can also enjoy quality audio with the HP 17z through DTS technology and a dual-speaker configuration.

With the HD+ panel model, get up to 7 hours of battery life during general tasks and up to 6 hours of operation during video playback. There are a good number of external ports for data transfer, charging, etc: 1 USB 2.0, 2 USB 3.1 (gen. 1), 1 HDMI (for connecting to a second display), 1 headphone/microphone jack, and 1 RJ -Four. Five.

While it may not be as powerful as a high-end gaming laptop, the HP 17z still offers a lot more power and speed than other laptops in its price range.
