7 quick and easy steps to make a marzipan pig

Marzipan pigs are considered a sign of good luck in many countries. Some European countries make marzipan pigs and give them out as prizes during Christmas celebrations.

This tasty dough is slightly dry on the outside and remains creamy on the inside, making it perfect for decorating sweets and cakes. With a whipped cream frosting, the marzipan tastes divine.

Ingredients:

Marzipan

Food coloring: pink and brown.

wax paper

plastic roller

Headband

3 circular glasses of different sizes

small star cookie cutter

Toothpick

Pizza cutter

Step 1: Divide the marzipan into three separate portions. For the largest portion, color it with pink food coloring, for the medium portion, use brown food coloring. Reserve the smallest portion and do not use food coloring.

Step 2 – Tape waxed paper to your work surface. With a plastic rolling pin, roll out the pink marzipan. Using each of the three circular cups, cut out three circles of dough.

Step 3: The largest circle will be the body. Rest this piece of dough on the wax paper. The medium sized circle will be the head. Place it on the upper part of the body, slightly overlapping the upper part of the body. The smaller circle is the snout. Place the circle at the base of the face.

Step 4: Use the star cookie cutter to make the ears. Along the edge of the rolled up pink dough, use two prongs of the cookie cutter and cut out the ears. Apply to the upper part of the face, below the circular portion of the mass.

Step 5: With brown marzipan, use your hands to stretch out a “snake.” Place the snake on the bottom edge of the snout, with the tips facing out to form a smiling mouth. With the same brown dough, roll out two very short “snakes” to form the nostrils. Place them vertically on the snout.

Step 6: Roll out the brown marzipan. Use the smaller circular cup to cut out a brown circle. Using a pizza cutter, cut the brown circle in half. With the rounded side facing up, use these two circles to form hooves. Place them on the bottom of the pig’s body. Use a toothpick to press an indentation in the center of the bottom of the helmet.

Step 7: Shape the eyes. Roll plain marzipan into two spheres and flatten between fingertips. Place on top of the snout. For the pupils, use the same technique with smaller spheres of mass. Use these two small, flat circles as pupils. To make the pig look friendly, position the pupils so they are at 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock looking at the snout.

This cute pig makes a great Christmas decoration or serves well at a special event representing good fortune. Graduations, promotions, and a business start-up celebration are perfect times for a marzipan pig.
