Online MLM: Why It’s Important To Prioritize Your Activities

So you have this great online MLM marketing plan and then you totally blitz.

Life goes by and a week goes by before you realize you haven’t done anything you planned to do. Now what? Easy…

Go back to basics.

The importance of the basics in online MLM
It’s really easy to get overwhelmed with an online MLM marketing campaign. When you create your plan, everything sounds so simple. It looks simple on paper. For example, a recent DVD I watched on creating such a plan advised people to use the following online platforms to promote their businesses:

  • Blog
  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Twitter

That seems very simple, right? After all, it’s only four things. These days, any competent MLM multitasker should be able to handle four simple tasks, especially if you have a laptop, web-enabled phone, and other useful tools.

Nope.

Doing MLM online constantly is like creating a new habit. It takes time. You run into daunting obstacles. You need a lot of persistence. That’s why it’s important to prioritize your online activities so you can get back to basics when life gets crazy, which it will… that’s a guarantee.

How To Prioritize Your Online MLM Activities
Suppose you are following the four element plan outlines above. How do you prioritize those activities? The most important item on that list is easy to pick: your blog. Your blog is your online MLM home base, while the other three social media platforms are media outposts that drive traffic back to your blog. Your home base trumps your media outposts because driving traffic to an empty home base is just plain silly.

So your blog is #1. That means when everything goes south and you have neglected your online MLM business, you come back to your blog. That is the most basic part of your online strategy. It starts from there. If you planned to blog twice a week, but you haven’t posted for 2 weeks, then your first priority is to write two blog posts for the current week. Then write 2 more blog posts for the next week to make sure you keep up.

Once you’re done writing, go back and look at the other social media platforms. To figure out how to prioritize them, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Which do you find easier to handle?
  • Which one gives you fewer technical problems?
  • Which one do you enjoy “playing” the most?
  • Which gives you the most promising leads and the most productive interaction?

Based on these questions, you should be able to rank your media outposts in order of importance.

For example, I know of an online MLM business builder who is very fast and productive on Twitter. She is direct and to the point, and does not enjoy excessive small talk. He likes the 140 character limit on tweets. On the other hand, he finds it difficult to navigate LinkedIn and often has to spend up to 30 minutes asking for a recommendation or searching for a question to answer. Facebook falls somewhere in between, easy to navigate but not as active as Twitter. So, your media outposts are ranked, in order of importance like this:

  1. Twitter
  2. Facebook
  3. LinkedIn

Does that make sense to you? Based on these questions, you should be able to easily rank your online activities to promote your MLM business. Better yet, when you find yourself sidetracked, having a priority list will help you get back to basics and get back on track.

Best of all, this “back to basics” approach keeps you from getting overwhelmed and deciding that online MLM is “too much.” When people get there, they tend to throw everything away…and walk away from a golden opportunity.

What a waste! Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater when life gets in the way of your online MLM business. Just go back to basics!
