Is there a good thing in skunks?

Isn’t it strange that while many people find skunks a nuisance and would like to get rid of them, they continue to be a cute skunk to others? Many children would take the opportunity to have their own skunk as a pet. Despite its smell, you may hear children crying “Oh, can I have it?” And trust me, they would do almost anything to have one as a pet. While skunks can be very cute, they are still wild animals and I would not recommend keeping them as pets. If your child loves skunks, he will want to keep a more tame stuffed pet.

Many people would find it ridiculous, but these animals have many advantages that you would like to think about. So next time you’re wondering how the hell you can get rid of that white striped animal in your yard, try thinking about how you can reap the benefits of its presence.

The most commonly found skunk in the United States is about the size of a house cat. It has a long black coat with 1 or 2 white stripes running down its back and tail. If you live in New Mexico, Texas, or Arizona, you may see the Hog-nosed or Hooded Skunk.

Skunks are active after dark, so you may not see any during the day, even in areas where they are populated. They like to hide in sheltered places like piles of wood, burrows, and burrows. They usually mate in January, and the female becomes quite aggressive and sprays that smelly liquid as a defense mechanism to scare off the males. The mother skunk will have up to 10 young in May or June. The new babies will stay hidden in the den for about 2 months and then they will start to follow their mother in search of food.

The problems between man and animal arise when these animals begin to take an interest in humans. Sometimes pets are sprayed with the smelly liquid during a confrontation. Sometimes the pet is bitten. These animals can also be destructive to gardens and lawns through excavation. They tend to uproot plants in search of food and burrow along with other insects. They are also known to eat eggs from land laying birds, this includes chicken eggs.

In California, they are ranked as the highest carriers of rabies, ticks, and fleas. Rabies can be fatal to mammals, including humans. So if you have found a family of skunks in your home, you need to know how to protect yourself and your pets.

If you don’t want skunks, discourage skunks from even considering settling in your area. Since what attracts these animals in residential areas is food, water and hiding places, reducing or eliminating these elements can deter them from entering or establishing themselves.
