It’s rare that we hear from a Facebook community that hasn’t heard of Bejeweled Blitz before. Bejeweled Blitz is a great puzzle game created by Pop Cap, the same developers who brought you the award-winning 2009 game Plants vs Zombies.

The first thing I noticed in Bejeweled is that the gameplay has changed a bit after a few months of not playing it. With the new added feature like earn gold coins and buy boosters for power ups.

Now we look at the basic gameplay. Bejeweled Blitz is just like any typical puzzle game found on Facebook. What makes it more interesting here, however, is that Pop Cap originally created the game for PC at home and brought it to Facebook as a promotion for his company and another line of games. This is a good strategy as Bejeweled is a highly addictive and fun game to play. Rarely will people get bored of him, he will just get frustrated and pull his hair out at times.

The game works like any other puzzle game you know. As your main goal in this game is to score as high as possible in just 1 minute in 1 round and yes its just 1 round. The game usually consists of gems of various colors around the screen and you have to get the gem in 3-5 lines together to score. As you destroy the current gems, a new one will drop down for you to destroy.

With the given time of 1 minute, the game started off very slow at first, but once you hit half of the given time, players will eventually start to panic and try to complete as many combinations as they can. Along the way, players will have a special power available and this also depends on the efforts of the players.

To power up, players will need to match at least 5 gems with the same combination in 1 line, vertically or horizontally, depending on the situation. There are 5 types of powerups available in the game.

Flame Gem will make a huge explosion in an area around it and will destroy any gems around the blast area. Very useful if you have at least 2 or 3 of this gem together. To get this gem, 4 gems must be obtained in a line.

Star Gem, this is created by combining 5 gems in an “L” or “T” shape. The effect of the Star Gem is to unleash its power by removing a column and a row of gems from the board.

Hypercube is the power that players find most useful. This is a power-up that unleashes its power by destroying a colored gem in the game. Its most useful feature is combining it with Flame Gem and Multiplier Gem, this allows the player to get a lot of points and also credits depending on the gem you destroy.

Multiply Gem is a gem that increases score when used. Anyone comes up with 2 times up to 4 times, depending on luck.

Gold Gem is the newest collection in the game. This gem allows the player to earn gold credits that allow them to purchase additional boost to help in this game.

After each round, players will be presented with a result of how they performed in the last game. Beat your high score and you will be rewarded with a medal that will allow you to show it to all your friends. Credits earned from previous games can be used to purchase a new Boost to use in the next game and this Boost will last for at least 3 rounds before it resets.

Players are recommended to use the mouse for this game as it is more responsive and easier to navigate than using the touchpad.

Bejeweled is a very colorful game as the gems are displayed in various shapes and colors. The animation in this game is also very good as you will see explosion and lightning effects depending on the power you have used.

Dream

Bejeweled Blitz has a very good sound in this game, but the musical part is a bit lacking. The sound that is created by exploding and destroying the gems is a lot of fun and once your counter hits the last 10 seconds players will be pressured to score as much as possible before it hits 0.

This is a very addictive game that will keep anyone playing for hours. Also, with the score trees provided by the developers, this game will push players to beat their previous high score and also make it to the top of the ladder of the top 10 players in the game.
