Spend the day at Treasure Beach and Black River

Treasure Beach is a sleepy fishing village on the south coast of Jamaica. Head to the beach with the kids and have a drink at the lively beach bar. Enjoy a quick game of dominoes with the locals and negotiate a day trip with one of the fishermen. As you head out into the blue Caribbean Sea in your brightly colored fishing boat, you can sit back and enjoy the view along the shoreline. Your kids will have a blast watching the dolphins as they swim just a few feet from your boat. Stop at the Pelican Bar located on a sandbar about a mile out into the ocean. Have a drink and reason with the Rastas as you take in the magnificent scenery. They serve delicious fresh fish and lobster dishes. Then head to Black River. This river is home to several crocodiles. Your children will love watching the crocodiles as they sunbathe in the mangroves. Head to the crab shack and eat a couple of baked crabs. Further up the river, your children will have fun swinging from the rope into the cool water. Don’t worry, there are no crocodiles in these places! Return to Treasure Beach for a delicious dinner of spicy chicken, rice and peas.
